I think I have probably bought enough Xmas+bday gift for myself this year...*cough Tiffany ring*....but if for some reason I am especially good in December, there are a few items on etsy that have caught my eye:

weird.

When I was younger...in elementary school....in high school.....university....I would shudder at the thought of wearing anything with hearts all over it.

Strangely, now as a career woman, I am totally OK with the idea of wearing a pair of rainboots completely covered with hearts to work.

I want this pair of Burberry boots.

$199 at Nordstrom.

Honestly though, I am not sure how I can transition myself from my current $8 pair of Walmart rainboots into $199 rainboots.

And if I was to buy designer rainboots, I'd probably go for AIGLE ones. Some of my favs:

How vapid and shallow have we become?

Saturday, October 31, 2009

WTF.

I am browsing the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection on hm.com and came across a disclaimer for all their shoes:

"We recommend that you replace the sole and the top piece of the heels before using the shoes."

Yes, I know there is an expression that we suffer for fashion...but the fact that you are telling your customers to take the product to a repair shop before wearing them is kind of ridiculous. H&M: just put rubber soles on them.

Shopping Canadian

I recently went to Montreal and had an awesome time shopping at a little boutique called "Delano Design" (www.delanodesign.com) in Old Montreal.

My typical shopping style is SALES. I love sales. I can't buy items if they are not on sale...so usually I focus on the chain stores (i.e. Club Monaco) where there are more likely to be sales.

Well, this experience of shopping in the little boutique made me realize I should give more balance to little boutiques from now on. Reasons?

1) The service. The young sales ladies were enthusiastic and knowledgeable! They knew their brands, they knew what to recommend (and cared enough to actually make the effort) and really enhanced our shopping experience by styling us for each outfit from head to toe...adding a hat, a belt, shoes.... Yeah, of course it is to encourage us to buy, but you ever have those moments where you stand in a white dressing room, unsure whether the outfit actually works...well, it helps a lot when there is a professional stylist there helping you out. Basically, in small little boutiques, you get the full stylist treatment. It was awesome

2) Supporting smaller/local designers: I always want to buy more Canadian, but it's hard because it's not readily available. Alas, this store had Montreal brands like Valerie Dumaine, Birds of North America that I really really liked! Each piece in the store was carefully selected and it really shows!!

Speaking of shopping Canadian, here are some of my favourite Canadian designers and some online Canadian shopping sites. Happy shopping!

Apparently the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection is up on nitrolicious.com. I have to say, that I agree with MuMu: Jimmy Choo should stick to shoes. OMG the clothes are hideous. That being said, here are the items I kind of sort of want. Actually, I only really really want the thigh high boots. I can live without the rest, but if I can make a profit on Ebay to offset my boot purchase, I'm definitely down with that idea. I might as well grab more stuff anyway since I'll already be in the line for 6h. OMG....6h line up for a Saturday opening. SHIT!

Check out these babies! Priced at $345USD.

Jimmy Choo for H&M touches down November 14, 2009. Is it worth the 6h queue in the freezing cold? A pair like those for the regular line would probably run you close to 2G. While I won't doubt that this collection is going to be awesome, I don't know if I have the energy. Seriously, I am almost 30 and unemployed.....
