While on my way home today, I passed by Winners and noticed that they had their Final Clearnace Sale on. Usually, this means a lot of crap that no one wants that is marked down to ridiculously low prices to tempt shop-a-holics like me, but not today. I am still a shop-a-holic, but today, the crap wasn't crap. I picked up a pair of white J Brand skinny jeans for ONLY $35. Now, those of you who don't know J Brand, they usually sell for $225 a pair. So you see, getting them for $35 is a steal. On the downside they're white and we all know that Fall is approaching quickly, which means that white bottoms are also quickly becoming inappropriate. Secondly, they're white and it's really very easy to look like you've gained 10 pounds just on your ass. Regardless, I was convinced by Moomu to keep them. It wasn't very hard to convice me....

I went to the Family Values Tour today with my brother to see Dir en grey, my favourite band after X-Japan. They were awesome and drew more of Western crowd than I had thought. On the downside my ears are still ringing and my organs hurt from being bombarded by all the soundwaves....

I'm sorry, I realize I haven't really blogged recently, but it's been a super busy week at work...and I think Ottawa has sucked by shopping soul.

Yes, shopping soul.

For any non-Kass readers: Yes, the shopping soul exists.

Another white bubble skirt that I think you will love (Moomu) but won't fit.

Saw these black flats at Zara and remembered that you wanted V-toed flats. The resolution isn't very good but the toes have a very subtle classy bow on it. Priced at $65.

Alas, I have literally frozen my credit cards. They are sitting in a tub and covered in 3 inches of ice.

Moomu, I know you hate this bag but I still love it. Up for auction with Buy-It-Now for $350USD.

Me and Quicksilver....

This video link is for those of you who love to see couture and for those of you who don't understand couture (Cam, Dave, Tony etc etc)

I almost died when I saw this.

I rarely ever go to Banana Republic but I was shopping with Farah and she's as small as you Moomu and she says that BR is one of the few stores that has things that MIGHT fit her. Keyword: MIGHT Saw these two things in BR that I thought you might enjoy.

I still want these booties from Zara. They would look killer with skinny jeans.

Saw this fobby Korean couple today. They were wearing matching clothes. Everything was identical from top to bottom. I wanted to chase them down and get a frontal but was discouraged by Tony. Why do fobs do this? Do they have any idea how silly it looks? Do they not realize when people are staring, it's not because they look cute but because they look ridiculous? sigh....

I am in love! Completely, and utterly in love!!!

This tunic, from Guess for $98, incorporates many of the fall trends including tunic tops, the colour grey, jersey material, and the 80's influence because of it's wearability with leggings and skinny jeans.

This fall, the 80's is cool again. The most prominent 80's trend is the leggings with the baggy sweater (sans the giant shoulder pads). Here is a similar grey top, though of much poorer quality, from H&M for $50, which looks great on the hanger but makes me look absolutely ridiculous. And this got me thinking, the 80's trend is one of those things that make sense...in theory. In theory, leggings look great (if you have skinny legs and a great ass); in theory, bright colours are fun (if you're a super hip japanese girl); in theory, baggy sweaters seem to solve the bloaty problem (only if you're skinny, otherwise it makes you look short and stumpy). So yes, the 80's trend can work if you're 6ft tall runway model, walking down a 30ft long platform with artificial wind making your hairy go flying in the air, and perfect makeup...it's one of those things that are good in theory...Despite all of this bitching, I have to confess that I own two pairs of leggings and two rather long and large sweaters. I have no idea what I'll do with them, but maybe I'll be able to find a way to make them work.

And also, I saw this great red coat at Zara for $169. It's very Charlotte and I can totally picture Moomu wearing it. Let me know if you want me to pick it up for you.

Earring shopping!

I need new earrings, and I've been browsing online to see if I can get any interesting ones. Actually, I was originally going to make a post about what I should buy, but in the middle of writing this post, I ended up making two purchases.

From Beadoodles's Etsy shop, I really like how simple and clean these two earrings are. Best yet, they are very reasonably priced at $7 each!

I came upon Maureen Gallagher's Jewelry through a referral at Pixelgirlpresents.com and I LOVE her jewelry. The problem is, most of her earrings are $50+...and as nice as they are, I'm not sure I'm ready to spend so much on earrings yet. But here are some of my favs:

Spaceship earrings! I love them I love them I love them. $55US! Hmmmmmmmmm. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

This earring is made out of these little rings. I think it's quite versatile and could be used to dress up and dress down an outfit. $45US. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Okay, I so need to go to sleep now. I will post more earrings as I find them. If you see any interesting ones, let me know! I'd love to get a pair of earrings in the style of Alex & Chloe

FCUK Autumn 2006

So the French Connection UK Fall collection is out.

Surprisingly, I'm not totally freaking out.

In other words, I don't love LOVE it.

Yes, I'm a tinsy tinsy bit disappointed.

This is not to say I don't like any of the items. I like some of them, and they would be wearable. However, I LOVED the Spring/Summer 2006 collection. Completely freaked out when the photos were first posted online. Drooled over the catalogue. Went nuts in the store. I don't see myself doing that for the Fall collection, but maybe it'll improve for Winter 2006?

Anyways, here are some of the items that I liked:

I like the grey coat. Very cute. Love the collar. Love the bubble look at the bottom (I hope the bubble is on the actual coat and not just in the picture) However, I am concerned about the sleeves because FCUK coats don't seem to fit me very well. Nonetheless, I'll try give this a try when I see it in the store. The coat on the right comes in green. They describe the green as marzipan and it looks light green on the web, but I'm hoping the real thing is a bit darker. I would love an olive colour coat!

The rest of the items are just stuff I can see myself wearing for work. They are nice! A bit concerned about the ones with Princess sleeves, but otherwise nice! However, being nice is different from WOW. Know what I mean?

AH HA! Those Aldo wedges I posted are a knockoff of these Christian Louboutin's. They look identical! I wonder if they are just as comfortable (or uncomfortable). At Saks.com for $525 USD. The more I look at these, the more I like them.
Oh dear....it turns out I don't have much restraint at all.
Sigh........

Saturday, August 05, 2006

I know I like to swear up and down that I will never wear wedges, but these ones look really practical for work since I can't wear any type of sharp heel without getting a few choice words from the boys. The comfort level doesn't even compare to flats but it's definitely more forgiving than wearing heels. It's priced at $80 at Aldo. I do love the booties we saw at Zara (no picture available) and am still comtemplating the JS cork platforms ($115 at Capezio). I'm so torn........

What should I do?

Friday, August 04, 2006

Okay, so I realize I've been completely delinquent in any type of fashion posting and this post is no exception. But hey, at least it's a post! I just had to add these two things because they both look awesome (although one of them is not a real product).

Virtual Keyboard!!!
It's from Digital Information Development and about $130 USD and hits stores this november

Also this image of a fake iChat Mobile.

Fake product I know, but here's to dreaming! :)

Shopping in two days!

Zara, 10:00am.

Omg.

Omg.

I can't wait.

P.S. - For anyone reading this outside the three of us, I live in Ottawa...there is no Zara in Ottawa. I miss Zara. Therefore, I am excited. Yay!!!!

Thank goodness I don't shop with my credit cards handy these days, otherwise I would have bought this coat from Zara. It was priced at $49.95. I loved the coat at the store but when looking at these pictures, I'm not sure so anymore.

Does it have to be part of the gaucho line? What about these?

I like that they sit more classic, and seem more comfortable. I've tried the scrunchy type of ballet flats, and they are not that great.

What is the fascination with the gaucho line anyways? Granted, the handbag was unique, but the rest of the series?

P.S. - I would have responded to your other post with the regular comments function, but then I wouldn't have been able to put this pic up.

I think Dior has been able to redeem themselves with these adorable ballerina flats. Since I'm not getting the Gaucho anymore, these shoes could be a suitable replacement for the desire for an item from the Gaucho collection. Furthermore, I have been looking for a really nice pair of black flats for a very long time and these shoes fit all the criteria. They're priced at $395 at
Why Dior??? Why????????

Availale at Saks for $495US.

I don't think I even need to explain how this shoe is just wrong wrong wrong, but here I go anyways:

1. It's ugly
2. Shearling in the front, open in the back. What season is this for exactly?
3. It's ugly
4. Didn't Uggs already do a shoe exactly like this LAST season?
5. This is a hideously, hideously, ugly shoe.

*shudder*

The new design collaboration with H&M this year is with Viktor & Rolf. After spending far too much money at the Lagerfeld opening and even more at the Stella McCartney opening, I fear the arrival of Viktor&Rolf at H&M and yet I welcome it at the same time. Without Cam to hold my credit cards this summer and with Louisa in Ottawa, saving for this year's special collection will be a test of my own restraint. So far so good....I only bought those Zara boots. Cross your fingers I can hold out until November....
